Thursday, September 24th marks a very special day, it is the 5 day anniversary of Homecoming 2026.. This year’s dance was one of the most successful dances St Stephens has held the whole year. The theme was Under The Sea, and I suppose it was only right that it went swimmingly.
3PM. T minus 5-and-a-half hours till Homecoming, students reported to the gymnasium to help set up for the dance, swiftly arranging tables, hurriedly putting tablecloths on said tables, and setting up fluorescent lights. So many students lending a hand, all for one goal: to make Homecoming the best it could be.
Finally, after many hours, the dance could commence. Festivities started with check-in. Students, such as the student government members, manned the check-in table with no problems. In fact, one student, Xander Peck, even reported that the check-in table was one of the most efficient and rewarding parts of the night: “I couldn’t believe how easy it was, I just gave [Atticus] my name and he crossed it out in no time and I was ready to go!” The fun didn’t end at the check-in table though. There was a disco ball right in the front of the gymnasium, next to a projector displaying Finding Nemo, and a dance floor in the middle led by DJ Camilo (‘27). Countless drinks were also available, including Izzies, and Pineapple Mango Lemonade! The sweet tastes didn’t end there, as there was an assortment of decorated desserts and a french fry bar. The sheer grandness of all this food was nothing short of a feast, like a meal straight out of the Harry Potter Dining Hall. None of this could have been possible without Mrs. Gibbs or Mr. Hines, so be sure to thank them next time you see them!
