From a howling Hozier yell, to Supergirl Sabrina spectaculars on the American Express stage, and miraculous Mr. Brightside blasts from the past, you don’t need to be an art critic to know Austin City Limits 2025 was a hit!
However, now that it’s 2026, Austin music fans and St. Stephen’s students alike are yearning for some fresh bands, acts, and performers for their annual downtown dance party… and good news for them, this new lineup did NOT disappoint! How so? You may ask… Well, stay tuned in as I break down every note, chord, and overlooked performer for Austin City Limits 2026, by day!!
Friday: When many Austinites of all ages zip over to Zilker Park Friday after a long, hot week in the Texas sun, one headliner will stick out above the rest, and that’s none other than Charli XCX. In 2024, the English pop icon released her 9th studio album, “Brat,” which is aging fine as wine, as it’s already one of the most critically acclaimed LPs of the 2020s… Later, in 2026, Charli dropped “Music, Fashion, Film,” which takes a more alternative, guitar-driven feel, yet still has hardcore fans dancing worldwide!! These days, her setlist combines her standout, singalongable hits such as “Party For U” and “360” with brand-new, experimental, artistic hits such as “Rock Music!” However, if cohesive pop rock isn’t for you, don’t fret, for Friday’s ACL lineup is nothing short of an EDM fan’s dream, with acts such as Skrillex, The Chainsmokers, and Steve Aoki, all bringing in flashing lights, gigantic crowds, and danceable bangers!! Nevertheless, if the synths and electronic effects give you a headache, you could really “Use Somebody” to get you a Friday weekend 2 pass, when everyone’s favorite modern southern rock family band, “Kings of Leon,” takes on the T-Mobile Stage at 8:15!!
Saturday: Saturday’s rundown of artists doesn’t miss a beat (literally), although “Lorde” will be the main attraction for many, as she looks to one-up her 2014 ACL hit performance… Saturday seems to be the day of Rock ’N’ Roll energy!! An underrated pick is a group of Long Island indie rock kids, “Arcy Drive.” The band is one of the fastest-growing rock groups today, and they are a perfect example of when raw garage rock energy meets community and wit! However, if you’re looking for even more creative and prolific rock songwriting, look no further than the T-Mobile Stage at 6:15, where Bleachers, fronted by THE one and only Jack Antonoff, takes the stage!! For a mixture of pop classics and modern-day drums and bass, proving rock is still very much alive… Saturday is the day for you!!
Sunday: They often say “Sunday Funday,” and for experimental rock fanatics on October 5th and/or October 12th, “fun” might just understate the emotions they’ll be feeling!! Try “exhilarating” or “breathtaking” for both The War on Drugs, one of the most critically acclaimed indie groups of the 2000s, as well as the new prodigy band “Geese,” who is in the midst of a world tour and was named “the saviors of rock ’n’ roll” by The Guardian!!! The best part of it all is that plural bird bands and fighting psychedelics aren’t even the biggest appeal for Sunday; that would be the one and only “Twenty One Pilots,” who currently possess a whopping 40 million monthly Spotify listeners and will close out both weekend 1 and weekend 2 of Austin City Limits 2026!!
So whether it’s EDM Rave Royales, pop classics, or up-and-coming guitar bands… It doesn’t take a genius to understand ACL 2026’s lineup is more than highly anticipated. However, if the sounds will back up the hype is totally up for you (yes, you) to decide, and it all kicks off in 3 weeks on Friday, October 2nd! But hurry! ’Cause tickets are dropping like flies!! So now the question is: will you be pushing Austin to its limit at this year’s ACL? Time will only tell!
