Even with the weather still hitting 90 degrees and the never-ending feeling of summer, fall season is near and approaching very soon! To celebrate the end of this sweltering Texan heat, here is a list of the top 5 movies and TV series to watch to really feel the fall vibes.
1. Gilmore Girls
This is the classic TV series that everyone loves and enjoys when fall comes around the corner. For those who don’t know Gilmore Girls, the series revolves around a mother in her mid-thirties, Lorelai Gilmore, exploring life herself, and her teenage daughter, Rory Gilmore. The show revolves around pivotal things that many of us can relate to: preparatory high schools, relationships, family, and college. Taking place in New England, the setting, vibes, and the stories revolving around the beautiful scenery and dark academic vibes make it a cult-classic for everyone to watch the minute a cool breeze is felt.
2. Stranger Things
With the show ending almost a year ago, Stranger Things has garnered quite the audience, and for good reason too. The show revolves around four ordinary teenage boys who love all things nerdy– things seem to be alright until one of the boys goes missing, causing a manhunt throughout the small town they live in. When a girl with supernatural powers comes by around the same time their friends go missing, things start to take a scarier, paranormal, and thrilling turn– but is the change for the better or for the worse? With the spooky 1980s aesthetic, the chilly small-town vibes, and the creepy plot that seems to thicken every episode, this series is definitely worth watching if you want to be scared and prepared for Halloween earlier this year.
3. The Vampire Diaries
If you’re allured by the idea of vampires, romance, and love triangles, then The Vampire Diaries is the one for you. The story follows Elena Gilbert, a high schooler in Mystic Falls, Virginia, navigating the tensions between a complex love triangle between two vampire brothers, Damon and Stefan Salvatore. With the supernatural, small-town aesthetic and mysterious vibes of the setting, this series is the perfect watch for anyone who wants some unearthly romances in an obscure town with true, witchy vibes.
4. Pretty Little Liars
Think of Gossip Girl, but make it take place predominantly in a high school in Pennsylvania, and a mystery as to what happened to their friend at the same time. Four girls: Aria, Hanna, Emily, and Spencer all find themselves being blackmailed by an anonymous texter named “A,” threatening to spill all of their secrets. At first, they think it’s their friend who went missing, known as Alison. But, once her body is found, the girls realize that someone else has been plotting on ruining their facades of perfect lives. With an exhilarating mystery and constant questioning of who “A” is, the vibes of New England, and the relatability of living through high school, Pretty Little Liars is a teen drama that’s definitely worth your attention this fall season.
5. Teen Wolf
Imagine getting bitten by a werewolf and having to learn to navigate your life with the help of your best friend. Good job, you just imagined the plot of Teen Wolf! The main character, Scott, gets bitten by a werewolf while in the middle of the woods, granting him insane powers and some privileges in his school’s social hierarchy: greater strength, greater speed, popularity, and being the new star of the lacrosse team. However, with a bounty on his head and the fact that he’s constantly surrounded by people who weren’t werewolves and didn’t know about him being one, Scott has to learn to control his new powers with the help of his friend, Stiles (played by Dylan O’Brien). Werewolves, high school, and involvement of the supernatural definitely give you more of a reason to watch this series during the coming fall season!
Fall’s coming up very soon; so stay snuggled in your covers, have a good snack, and indulge in these series that are worth all of your time and energy during this season! Have fun watching!
