Two weeks ago, Chrysalis put on a stunning show highlighting the theme of sisterhood. Throughout the show, Chrysalis defined sisterhood in numerous ways: sisterhood was competition. Sisterhood was unity. Sisterhood was trust conveyed through each lift, tug, and shove. Sisterhood was something liberating by finding common ground, like a bench.
With each theme, from the opening number flaunting decks of cards and sharp suits to the breath of fresh air and togetherness in the final dance, Chrysalis truly defined what unity should be. Unity, our school’s theme for this year, asks us to deliberately bring people a sense of belonging in a space, whether that be in a classroom, a sports game, or in the dorms. Chrysalis embodies unity as a part of campus life, but also expresses it as a universal message. Through the art of dance, Chrysalis claims that no matter our differences, we can always come together and build trust in one another to create a safe and welcoming community.
Now, Chrysalis is practicing for the upcoming ISAS festival at St. Mark’s and preparing a big piece to present during the spring show near the end of April. Dancers are also preparing their own solos to showcase their amazing skills.
Update: because of the snow day, Chrysalis only performed on Friday. The dancers truly appreciated the love from everyone who came to the show! The crowd was amazing!
